SMMIS provides a broad, varied and enriching curriculum with a focus on collaboration and learning through play. Small class sizes allow the Teachers and Teaching Assistants to give personalised aspirational targets for each child. Lessons focus on the progress of the children through support, challenge and extension work.
Our teaching style is based on the teaching of Carol Dwek’s Growth Mindset, and Building Learning Power of Guy Claxton. We teach our children to be independent learners, resilient, collaborative and risk takers.
Our curriculum has an International focus, and includes Literacy, Maths, Science, IT, Robotics, Music Art and Social Studies. We focus on the wellbeing of the child through PSHE, PE and swimming. Those who choose to do so, learn International Studies and World Religions. We have specialists teaching specialist subjects, alongside the classroom teachers. Hebrew and Mandarin are offered as a second language.
The values and ethics of Judaism are at the heart of our school. Jewish Studies and Modern Hebrew are taught as discreet subjects, and cover: Halacha (Jewish Law); Jewish history and development of the Jewish people, their culture and ethics.
We build community through festival celebrations, we are a proudly Zionist school and we teach a love of the State of Israel and its importance to the Jewish people.
