Through an academically rigorous program, students in grades 6 through 8 learn to master skills that will serve them in high school and beyond. Our internationally focused program prepares them to succeed in wherever their home country may be. Our Small-by-Design model emulates the finest American independent schools where every child is challenged to reach their full potential.
Our students are exposed to a curriculum which interweaves history, literature, art, music and drama. A school wide expository writing program builds critical research and writing skills that enable students to research, organize and present well-articulated, coherent research papers.
SMM’s research based science program developed at the University of California, Berkeley, with the support of the United States Science Foundation teaches science as an active enterprise that engages the student’s mind in the pursuit of scientific knowledge and exploration. The program is inquiry based, emphasizing investigation and analysis.
The Middle School Curriculum encourages students to appreciate the fine arts; field trips to expose them to philharmonic concerts, theater and museums. As a component of our program, students learn to appreciate the beauty and poetry of Shakespeare’s language. Classes study either Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice or other classical works.
Our mathematics program is a unique blend of the rigor provided by Singapore math and the creativity of leading American math programs. Our program ensures that children not only learn to compute but that they learn to problem solve and think like mathematicians.
