Physical Education (P.E) was created to add balance for active minds. P.E teaches us to be on our toes, encourage creative problem solving, social interaction and teamwork. In addition, our P.E. program promotes non-competitive games in a FUN environment and introduces skills that are needed for daily use and interaction between friends.
At SMMIS we have 4 different components to our P.E program, each tailored to fit each particular age group. In addition, as children need to be stimulated and challenged continuously, our activities change weekly by introducing simple skills, building upon previous skills and encouraging skill permanence.
Our program components are listed below:
1.Tiny Tots (20 and under) – 30 minutes x 2 times/week
We start with a welcome song, warm up exercises, soft equipment time as well as skill introduction and parachute time.
2.Pre-Nursery and Nursery – 30 minutes x 2 times/week
We start with a welcome dance, warm up exercises, introduce basic skills, relay and cool down
3. K1 and K2 – 45 minutes x 2 times/week
Students will learn basic movement on different sports and relays
4. G1 to G4 – 45 minutes x 2 times/week and G5 to G9 – 45 minutes x 3 times/week
